11:36 p.m. - Saturday, Nov. 15, 2003 We are so consumed with ourselves. Forgive us. Overfed and unconcerned, we worry constantly about our petty little needs. We seldom look to the needs of anyone around us, and even when we do, their suffering only lets us feel better about our own lives. Christ, even our pity is selfish. What does it mean to truly love my neighbour? What does it mean to suffer with those who suffer? How much can I let myself hurt for the sake of showing love? I can barely handle a splinter; You let nails go through your flesh.
